WSF Industries Develops Vacuum Pressure Impregnation Tank With 10-ft. Inner Diameter And 10-ft. Working Depth

Buffalo, NY - A customized, large-capacity Vacuum Pressure Impregnation (VPI) Tank with an inner diameter of 10 feet and a working depth of 10 feet was designed and built by WSF Industries, Inc., Buffalo, New York. The new vertical VPI system features the company's patented Rapidoor fast-actuating closure and provides 100 psig internal pressure and full vacuum at 100°F maximum temperature. Installed in a compact full-pit layout, the VPI system and its atmospheric storage tank are set below floor level to facilitate product loading and unloading, while the NEMA 12 control panel, vacuum and hydraulic systems, and chiller are located at floor grade for easy operator access, according to WSF Industries.
The new VPI system from WSF was built for the manufacture and service of electric motors. VPI systems are also used for the processing of coil windings, transformer components, power cables, fiberglass laminations, cores, paper products, and other items. They can also impregnate pitch or chemical solutions into electric furnace electrodes and piping and tubing for heat exchangers, nuclear power plants and pump components. In addition, porous metal castings can be impregnated with sealants, and wood products impregnated with various substances to protect against rot, insects, fire, weather effects, and heavy use, WSF Industries states.
