ULTEM
It is a polyetherimide manufactured by GE Plastics. The material is widely used in chemical process industry applications. OEMs can now use multi-layer ULTEM manifolds where metal and other materials were incompatible or too expensive. Multi-layer manifolds will also eliminate most gaskets, fittings, and leak points associated with other types of manifolding.
Using a proprietary, company-developed process called diffusion bonding, the company creates complex, close-tolerance, 3-dimensional fluidic modules for process and diagnostic equipment manufacturers.
Diffusion bonding does not use adhesives, solvents, ultrasound or vibration. The clean process provides OEMs with manifolds that have clear, obstruction-free internal tracks, chambers and other features. Other components like metals contacts, diaphragms, sensors, mixers, and substrates can also be incorporated into ULTEM diffusion bonded manifolds.
The company can assist OEMs in the design of a flow schematic and manifold layout. Using its proprietary diffusion bonding process, the company will machine and bond an unlimited number of layers to create a strong, integrated fluidic module. The company also provides complete valve/manifold assemblies, fully-tested for flow, pressure, leak, and function.
