With increasing pressure on manufacturing industries to minimize waste and recycle chemicals used for cleaning process plant, the recovery of caustic and acid solutions is now a priority for process manufacturers worldwide.

The company offers a new tubular membrane filtration system which applies nanofiltration technology to the recovery of cleaning chemicals. Capable of operating at temperatures of up to 60°C and handling a pH range between 1.0 and 14, the Reco-CIP system can typically recover up to 95% of the active chemical solution.

The modular design of the system means that cleaning the filtration membrane is straightforward. Continuous or batch process operation is possible and the nanofiltration units can be run for up to 22 hours prior to cleaning. Organic components in the spent cleaning solution are retained by the system membrane allowing re-use of the permeate in a plant's cleaning process.

Suspended solids, oil and grease as well as up to 75% of Kjeldahl nitrogen are all rejected by the Reco-CIP, which can operate at pressures between 14 and 28 bar. Because of the performance of this nanofiltration module and the low cost of installation, the company estimates that payback can be achieved in less than 12 months, depending upon the plant requirements and initial cost of cleaning chemicals.
