Space Requirements and Operating Availability

The Combu-Changer oxidizer requires considerably less space than other VOC removal technologies. A 60,000 scfm installation with two standard modules occupies about 1200 square feet of floor space and a volume of 8,400 cubic feet. A single ceramic regenerative oxidizer with the same capacity requires approximately 2,600 square feet of floor space and a volume of 46,000 cubic feet - more than five times the space.

Another advantage of a multiple-unit system consisting of individually dedicated Combu-Changer modules is operating availability. If it should be necessary to take a module off line, the remaining units and the process they serve can remain on line and still operate within compliance levels. On the other hand, if a large single oxidizer is taken off line, there is the potential of a total plant shutdown.
