The New Tripos (DE), Inc. Announces Release Of Chemistry Extensions Package For Open-Source KNIME Workflow Platform

St. Louis, MO - Tripos (DE), Inc. (Tripos), a privately-held, leading provider of drug discovery informatics products, services, and chemistry research, recently announced the release of Tripos Chemistry Extensions V1.0 for KNIME, the robust open-source workflow platform developed by researchers at the University of Konstanz, Germany. The Tripos Chemistry Extensions package introduces "chemical intelligence" to the highly extensible KNIME platform, providing users with chemical structure manipulation, visualization, and other analysis features.

In making the announcement, Tripos' Chief Executive Officer, Jim Hopkins said, "The Tripos Chemistry Extensions for KNIME provides researchers with a new freedom to choose how they access and deploy their select informatics tools. Researchers have been seeking a cost-effective and efficient way to use tools of their choosing to process and analyze complex workflows. This is the alternative they've been looking for."

Operating on the KNIME platform, Tripos customers now have flexible options for accessing Tripos software, open-source data mining tools, and other third party packages, comprehensively, in a fully supported platform. The Tripos product offering utilizing KNIME includes licenses to Tripos technologies embedded within the Tripos Chemistry Extensions package, and support for the open source KNIME platform itself.

The well-known KNIME platform, developed by Prof. Michael R. Berthold and his colleagues at the University of Konstanz, will enable Tripos' customers to visually create and execute scientific workflows based upon a combination of Tripos and third-party discovery informatics products. According to Prof. Berthold, "Development of quality open source software relies upon a core set of committed developers and an active community, but our efforts are multiplied when commercial partners such as Tripos offer their support for our software and integrate their own tools."
