Westfalia Separator decanters and separators are used for the recovery of starch, proteins and gluten from numerous products – including wheat, corn, rice, tapioca, potatoes and legumes. While each application has its own unique requirements, the three basic processes include classification, washing and concentration of these raw material components. Our patented 3-phase technology achieves optimal separation – a yield of almost 100% – of constituents (e.g. A and B starches, vital gluten, fibers, proteins, etc.) while sharply reducing fresh water consumption as well as wastewater volumes. It is good for the producer and good for the environment. And our new DiscDecanter for corn gluten dewatering eliminates the need for both gluten thickeners and rotary vacuum filters by the use of one innovative machine. The liquid clarified by the decanter is polished by a disk stack separator resulting in extremely dry solids and improved product quality of the protein powder.
