SFD-2 Solids Flow Detector
The SFD-2 uses low-power microwaves to sense motion. Microwaves are used because they are virtually unaffected by heat, humidity, ambient light, pressure, vacuum, high or low temperatures, or dust.
Typical applications include detection of flow stoppage caused by a plug or equipment failure. In addition, the device is useful for verifying flow/no-flow conditions in pneumatic conveying lines. It works with a variety of powder and bulk solids, ranging from heavy materials to light particles.
The non-contact SFD-2 contains no probes that protrude into the chute or line. The ability to sense through most non-metallic surfaces allows the SFD-2 to have a non-intrusive flush mounting.
Every unit includes a sensor head and a remote power supply. Since all control functions are located on the power supply/conditioner board, control changes can be made without accessing the sensor head. The power supply is connected to the sensor head via and inexpensive, low voltage 3-wire system.
