Rohm and Haas Names New Officers

Effective January 1, 1999, Rohm and Haas Company (Philadelphia, PA) will change management structure and appoint the following people to head its three business groups.

Dr. Patrick Colau, 52, vice president, will head the performance polymers business group. Performance polymers is the home for the company's acrylic chemistry expertise and includes the polymers and resins, plastics additives, formulation chemicals and monomers business units. Colau is a 21-year veteran of the company, with previous experience in Europe and in electronic chemicals.

Dr. Nance Dicciani, 50, vice president, will lead the chemical specialties group consisting of agricultural chemicals, biocides, and ion exchange resins. In addition, Dicciani will head the company's operations in the European Region.

Rajiv Gupta, 52, vice president and executive responsible for electronic materials, will continue in that role. Gupta began his Rohm and Haas career in 1971. He was named recently to succeed J. Lawrence Wilson as chairman and chief executive officer upon Wilson's retirement late in 1999.

Rohm and Haas is a specialty chemical company with $4 billion in annual sales revenue.
