Rack and Pinion Actuator

CHEM SHOW '99: The Valv-Powr VP/VL model B actuator is a compact, double-acting and spring return, rack and pinion, pneumatic piston actuator. It combines the benefits of high-cycle life, rugged construction and extremely compact design with a unique range of features and options. It is available with externally adjustable stops in both directions and is compliant with international standards. It is specifically design for fast, efficient action on ball, butterfly and other rotary valves where value and long-lasting dependability are primary considerations.

The actuators are built to be rugged and rigorously tested. Life-prolonging features include a fully-coated extruded aluminum body with honed internal surface for higher strength and lower coefficient of friction; high-quality bearings for better performance; polyester coated end caps and epoxy coated springs with internal and external stainless steel fasteners for corrosion resistance; mechanically multi-guided aluminum pistons for precise movement; low friction and high-cycle life; and heavy-duty spring guaranteed for the life of the unit.

Machined teeth on piston racks and pinions allow for precision engagement. Low friction features throughout deliver maximum efficiency and long operating life.

The unit is exceptionally compact for convenient access and easy installation. A balanced symmetrical design reduces stress on the entire system. The actuator can be converted from spring-to-open to spring-to-close action in the field simply by inverting the pistons.

At no additional costs, the actuators include significant value added features such as safety contained springs in their own cartridge, low friction bearings at all wear points, externally adjustable stops in both directions, and the same body and end-caps for double acting and spring return models to reduce inventory and for easy interchangeability.
