The International Pump Users Symposium is the only meeting organized by pump users for pump users. The members of the Advisory Committee, who provide overall guidance, are recognized leaders in the pump community.

The Symposium is an outstanding value for users concerned with maintenance, performance, troubleshooting, operation, and purchase of pumps. The program includes short courses (full day on Monday), lectures, tutorials, discussion groups, user case studies, and a major exhibit of products and services. Persons attending the technical sessions will get copies of the presentations, which will not be included in the Proceedings.

The program is specifically structured to meet the needs of employees with an increasing degree of responsibility for pumping equipment. Many companies have found the International Pump Users Symposium to be an ideal source for meeting their continuing education, professional development, and training requirements.

The technical sessions and the exhibits do not overlap, enabling attendees to concentrate on both program aspects. The program provides an opportunity for attendees to select those lectures, tutorials or discussion groups that best meet their personal and professional needs and interests.

The trade show exhibits feature products from about 240 companies in more than 440 booths. Exhibiting companies normally send their "first-team" players to this symposium; hence, attendees can get knowledgeable help at the exhibit hall, in addition to seeing major exhibits of equipment.

The Turbomachinery Laboratory is a part of the Texas Engineering Experiment Station and the Texas A&M University System. They are a nonprofit entity. All proceeds from the International Pump Users Symposium are used to support education and research activities in pumps and turbomachinery.
