The company's unique plate separator is one product which has benefited from these design methods. Designed for the separation of primary immiscible liquid dispersions, it is suitable for application where an improvement in the performance of conventional gravity separators is needed and coalescer packings may be unsuitable due to fouling problems from a high concentration of solids or waxy compounds in the feed; or when minimum pressure drop is required. It will handle the dispersion even when it is difficult to determine whether the oil or the water is the dispersed phase. It is also suitable for operation with a third gas phase.

The diagonal profile offers two key benefits. First, the two phases can disengage continuously along the length of plate which contributes to flow stability and reduces the risk of droplet re-entrainment. And second, the design allow a high packing density and therefore more plates can be fitted into a given volume of vessel.

Modular in construction, the separators are perfect for retro-fitting to existing horizontal gravity settlers to improve separation performance and increase flow rates.
