The new design now incorporates a trapezoidal screw mechanism in lieu of the previous versions’ studding arrangement. The new design also provides better wear resistance. Linear rail bearings are now fitted and replace the guide bars; this also helps reduce friction and makes the clamp easier to operate. The clamping leadscrew is now supported in three places by angular bearings which also provide improved ease of use through a more accurate location. These improvements mean that the torque unit is now only required to exert 6Nm to clamp a roll, reduced from the previous 12Nm. This enhancement is due to less friction in the clamp mechanism and it also provides a better grip on the roll. The rollers and pads are now made from FDA approved blue rubber as standard, and this new material does not shed particles during use.

All motorised versions of the clamp attachment now incorporate inductive proximity switches. This provides precise control of the motor and hence the position of the clamp in rotation. It also permits the easy adjustment of the clamp when it is required to index in rotation.

The clamp attachment has been designed to suit the lifting and rotation of rolls which are between 250mm (9.84”) and 600mm (23.62”). The manual clamping action is provided by a hand-wheel which has a torque limiter fitted so that the clamp does not over tighten. The clamp can also be rotated through 360 degrees and can be locked off in increments of 90 degrees with the unique quick release system.

This roll handling attachment is backed up by a full bespoke design service ensuring the right soluton can be made to suit any make or size of roll, barrel or drum. All Packline attachments are fully interchangeable and can be easily fixed or removed from any model of roll lifter fitted with the quick release system.
