Next Merger: Shell And Chevron?

N/An Francisco Chronicle reported on Dec. 9 that Royal Dutch/Shell might be planning to acquire Chevron in a deal worth about $65 billion, says the UPI newswire. The Chronicle cited a New York industry analyst, Albert Anton of Carl H. Pforzheimer & Co., who confirmed that there has been such speculation in Europe.

If done as a stock swap, the deal would be complicated by the joint British and Dutch ownership of Royal Dutch/Shell.
