New FlowGuard Glow Solvent Cement Eases Joint Inspection
Cleveland, OH - The Lubrizol Corporation , maker of FlowGuard Gold CPVC pipe and fittings compounds, has partnered with the IPS Corporation to introduce FlowGuard Glow, a new solvent cement product designed with a unique identifying system to help inspect solvent welded joints. This fluorescent, one-step solvent cement provides added confidence in the reliability of CPVC joints.
Applied in the same manner as FlowGuard Gold one-step solvent cement, FlowGuard Glow CPVC solvent cement is yellow in color when applied but glows fluorescent blue under ultraviolet light, allowing installers to inspect solvent cement joints easily and quickly with a UV-A light kit.
FlowGuard Glow has the same properties as FlowGuard Gold solvent cement – easy one-step application, fast setting for quick installation time and low VOC emissions. Medium-bodied viscosity FlowGuard Glow cement is formulated for CPVC piping systems with interference fits up to 2" copper tube size. The product meets both ASTM D 2846 and F 493 standards and is listed with NSF and UPC for use in both cold and hot potable water systems, up to 180 degrees Fahrenheit.
Spectroline Corporation manufactures the ultra-high intensity UV-A light kit, which produces up to 10 times the UV-A output of conventional high-intensity discharge lamps. The battery-operated UV lamp is lightweight and works even in direct sunlight. It comes equipped with a 12-volt, 7-amp/hour rechargeable battery that will operate the lamp for two hours (battery charger is included).
FlowGuard Glow CPVC one-step solvent cement is available at wholesalers and plumbing supply stores across the country.
