New Bench Mark For UPW Ion Exchange Resin Performance For Semiconductor And Wafer Manufacturers Announced By Purolite

Purolite has announced a new family of resins for the production of ultra-pure water (UPW). Purolite's UltraClean resins bring improved start up and operating performance for UPW users with respect to regenerable and non-regenerable mixed bed units, delivering new benchmark performance.

Ion exchange resins are typically used as "polishing" operations to remove the last traces of ions and total organic carbon (TOC) from UPW process water. Usually, UPW grade ion exchange resins are used in the final stage of the water treatment plant. This water treatment plant typically consists of filters, reverse osmosis and or other membrane systems, two-stage UPW mixed bed deionization and a final UPW mixed bed deionization.

"Attaining this new high level of water purity with extremely low contaminants has been a key goal for Purolite. UltraClean meets the UPW demands that the complex circuit geometry of the microchip and electronic industry has today", said Mr. Don Brodie VP of Operations.

Purolite's UltraClean resins show superior rinse down times for resistivity, silica (SiO2), Boron (B), sodium (Na), trimethylamine (TMA) and total organic carbon (TOC). This is a key advantage to the electronics, integrated circuit and microchip industry by reducing the volume and cost of rinse water and maximizing the availability of the water treatment plant through improved recycle and rinse down times. The availability of "good" water for the plant translates to higher productivity and reliable consistent product quality.
