Morton Promotes Fuerholzer to Executive Vice President

Morton International this week announced the promotion of James Fuerholzer to the position of executive vice president of Portfolio and Technology Development. In his new position Fuerholzer, a 41 year veteran of Morton's specialty chemical business, will have the responsibility of acquiring new businesses, developing and acquiring new technologies, and assisting in the geographical expansion of existing product lines.

Morton also announced the splitting of its Adhesives and Chemical Specialties Group into six operating divisions, each headed by a vice president and general manager. The six new vice presidents and general managers are: Bernard Genin, industrial adhesives and waterbased polymers; Herman Spikman, packaging and laminating products; Hans Schmidt, thermoplastic polyurethanes; Theodore Pauls, dyes and organics; Robert Edmonston (acting), performance chemicals and advanced materials; and Jacques Croisetiere, plastic additives and sealants. Edmonston will also become the group president of Chemical Specialties with performance chemicals, dyes and organics and plastic additives and sealants reporting to him.

"The new structure allows us to keep manufacturing, marketing, sales and technical service responsibility at the vice president level and share operations support services across the six divisions. This should let us control costs while making sure decisions are made close to the customer," said William Johnston, president and CEO of Morton.

James Fuerholzer joined Morton as a research chemist after receiving a Ph.D. in organic chemistry from the University of Nebraska. He has held senior positions in Morton's chemical operations including vice president, Petroleum and Industrial Dyes and senior vice president, Performance Chemicals and Plastic Additives. In 1992, he was promoted to group vice president of Morton Specialty Chemical Products and became group vice president of Adhesives and Chemical Specialties in 1995.

Morton International is a Chicago based manufacturer and marketer of speciality chemicals and salt.
