MiniCheck Hydrogen Sulfide Detector

The MiniCheck is a personal detector for suspended presence of hydrogen sulfide in petroleum processing plants, pipelines, and sewage treatment plants.

Overall size is 2 7/8" x 1 5/8" x 7/8". The transparent case is made from Lexan, a General Electric product that is practically unbreakable. The case is held together with two machine screws that are easily removed to install new tape.

Before using, the small plastic knob on the case is turned slightly to bring a fresh spot of tape to the open port. this permits the atmosphere to reach the tape.

When testing for suspected H2S, the MiniCheck Detector is placed within the area for approximately three minutes. Then, the color of the test spot of tape is compared with the color comparison chart next to it. This provides visual confirmation of the H2S level present in the test atmosphere. Rapid darkening of the tape indicates potentially lethal H2S concentrations, and prompt safety preautions should be taken.
