Merichem and USFilter announce sale of sulfur removal business, gas

Gary Nagl, vice president and general manager of GTP, believes that Merichem and GTP share synergies that will be beneficial to both gas and oil processors as well as to the chemical processingindustry and less traditional areas of the geothermal, landfill and wastewater treatment industries. Frank Firsching, president of USFilter's Water and Wastewater Systems group, explained that the sale was consistent with USFilter's long-term strategy of focusing its growth within the municipal and industrial water treatment and services business.

Price and terms of the sales were not disclosed. Gas Technology Products LLC will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of Merichem Chemicals & Refinery Services LLC based in Houston and will include GTP's research facility in Plainfield, Ill.
