Lightnin Acquires Nettco Mixer Products
Lightnin, a unit of SPX Corp. (Rochester, NY) has acquired certain assets, including a product line of portable and heavy mixers, from Nettco, Inc. (Everett, MA). The companies did not disclose terms of the agreement.

Nettco makes direct and gear-drive portable mixers that feature aluminum housings, sealed bearings, and standard C-face motors. Geared drives use hobbed and shaved high-efficiency helical gears. Uses range from dissolving plating chemicals and preparing waste treatment compounds to manufacture of adhesives, coatings, sauces, and gravies. The company also makes fixed-mount, sanitary, pipeline, and top and side-entering mixers.

Lightnin A315 axial flow impeller designed for gas-liquid dispersion and mass transfer-controlled applications. The company says the design improves mass transfer by 30% compared with Rushton turbines and can cut energy costs by 45%.

Lightnin plans to relocate manufacture of the Nettco product line to its Rochester facility by early June. It will continue to use Nettco's existing network of sales representatives.

Lightnin president Jay Caraviello says the acquisition will expand the company's distribution channels. The company anticipates further acquisitions and is actively soliciting and evaluating potential candidates.
