LaRoche Industries Inc. Names Richard F. Cavagnaro Director of Worldwide Sales for Alumina Products

LaRoche Industries Inc. (Atlanta) has promoted Richard F. Cavagnaro to Director of Worldwide Sales for alumina products. LaRoche alumina products consist of Versal and activated aluminas which are manufactured at its plant in Baton Rouge, LA. Markets for these products include catalyst powders, inorganic binders, abrasives, specialty adsorbents and desiccants.

"Rich has solid experience in the alumina and catalyst industries and has proven he is a valuable resource to our customers and the company," commented Vice President of Specialty Chemicals Vincent R. Gurzo. "His expanded role will provide better continuity in serving customers and will increase our effectiveness in reaching worldwide markets."

Mr. Cavagnaro joined LaRoche in 1996 as a Business Manager for activated alumina. Prior to joining LaRoche, he worked for Degussa Corp. since 1988. During this time, he served in several capacities including manager of accounts, products and markets for the chemical catalysts division, product manager for fumed silica and aluminum oxides and assistant product manager for flatting agents and carbon black. In 1983, he earned at B.S. in chemistry from Shepherd College, Sheperdstown, WV

LaRoche Industries Inc. makes a diverse range of chemicals at seven facilities within the United States. The Company produces electrochemicals such as chlorine and caustic soda for plastics, water treatment, waste treatment and other chemical manufacturing processes. LaRoche manufactures and/or distributes nitrogen-based chemicals including anhydrous ammonia, aqua ammonia, nitric acid, low density ammonium nitrate and nitrate solutions for industrial applications. Other nitrogen-based products, such as high density ammonium nitrate, urea, UAN solutions, potash and phosphates, are sold into U.S. agricultural markets. LaRoche also manufactures specialty chemicals such as activated and Versal alumina for environmental and chemical processing such as specialty adsorbents, catalysts and catalyst supports, specialty abrasives and other performance-critical applications, and HCFC-141b for rigid foam insulation.
