JMAR Recognized For Biological Detection Product Of The Year

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--JMAR Technologies, Inc. (OTCBB:JMAR), a leading innovator in the development and commercialization of sensing systems for the detection of chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and explosive (CBRNE) materials, today announced that its BioSentry™ water monitoring system has earned Frost & Sullivan's 2008 North American Biological Detection Product of the Year Award.

The consulting firm cited BioSentry's "continuous online monitoring and automated response within seconds," and said the system "is quickly changing the way that water is processed and protected." It also said BioSentry "is considered to be a disruptive technology throughout the water security industry. Water analysis processes that once took days can now be completed within a matter of seconds." The full text of the award press release can be found at http://www.frost.com/prod/servlet/press-release.pag?mode=open&docid= 145709774.

JMAR Technologies CEO Neil Beer, Ph.D., said, "This recognition from one of the world's most respected consulting firms verifies the revolutionary solution BioSentry provides. As Frost & Sullivan points out, BioSentry is unique in its ability to monitor water for biologic hazards online and in real time, thereby eliminating the need to send samples to a lab for a testing process that can take days. When the contamination of water supplies – intentional or accidental – can have deadly impacts almost immediately, BioSentry's capability is invaluable for ensuring health and security."

A "Completely Different" Solution
In presenting its 2008 North American Biological Detection Product of the Year Award to BioSentry, Frost & Sullivan called it "a completely different waterborne biological detection solution." BioSentry uses laser-produced, multi-angle light scattering (MALS) to detect signatures of microorganisms and to determine within seconds if a water supply is contaminated. Testing by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has found that this system detects waterborne pathogens 25 times better than any other device tested.

Once installed, BioSentry can immediately detect pathogens at contamination warning levels or continuously monitor for anomalies in the water supply. Frost & Sullivan notes that the product thus can serve as an early warning system for contamination, or it can be used to track changes that may indicate deteriorating water quality. It adds, "Customers are already seeing the added value of BioSentry with major municipalities purchasing the system in 2008."
