Invensys Process Systems created
Invensys Software Systems, a division of Invensys plc, today announced the creation of a $1.6 billion systems integration business -- Invensys Process Systems. The new unit combines the resources of APV Systems and Invensys Process Automation (Foxboro, Triconex, Simulation Sciences, Esscor and Walsh Automation) to form one of the world's largest automation and process engineering companies.
"We are excited about the great potential of transforming two market leaders into a unified systems integration powerhouse," said Bruce Henderson, chief executive, Invensys Software Systems. "Invensys Process Systems will provide information technology, automation, and process solutions to a wide range of manufacturing applications for the chemical, oil and gas, pulp and paper, power, pharmaceutical, food, dairy and beverage industries. The new unit will deliver guaranteed measurable performance improvement to customers and will generate the highest returns on their technology investments. In addition, it will offer integrated e-business/automation solutions that include products and services from Baan, Wonderware and many other Invensys companies," he said.
Invensys announced that Michael L. Carman has been appointed president, Invensys Process Systems. Carman joins Invensys from Honeywell where he served as vice president and general manager of the Air Transport and Regional Avionics business. He also was vice president and general manager, Turbocharging Systems, and vice president-corporate planning and development at AlliedSignal Inc. Carman held senior management positions with Arthur D. Little in its Boston, London, and Copenhagen markets. He received a bachelor of arts degree from Bowdoin College and an MBA from Dartmouth College. Don Sorterup, president, APV Systems, and William Ketelhut, president, Invensys Process Automation, will report to Carman.
