Intematix Announces Key Win For Solid State Lighting LED Phosphor Technology With Taiwan's Kingbright Electronic Co. Ltd

Fremont, CA - Adding to recent industry wins, phosphor experts, Intematix Corporation of Fremont, California, demonstrated another key addition to its customer list by announcing that it will provide its industry-leading line of patent-backed phosphors to Taiwan's Kingbright Electronic Co. Ltd.

This partnership brings together the wide range of product capabilities at Kingbright in combination with the performance leadership of Intematix phosphors. This news closely follows Kingbright's recent announcement of a licensing agreement that allows Kingbright to manufacture and sell packaged LEDs using Cree's patented white LED technology. The Intematix license allows Kingbright use of Intematix' patent-backed family of specific high performance phosphors.

Intematix VP of Engineering and Co-Founder, Dr. Yi Qun Li states, "We have been engaged with many customers and believe that Kingbright brings very innovative designs in all critical dimensions to the marketplace. The combination of Kingbright's capabilities, their licensed usage of CREE's white LED technology, and our patent-backed customizable phosphor technologies can serve the marketplace with high performance and flexible color designs. We are grateful to Kingbright for their validation of our phosphors and their commitment to independent sources of both patent protected phosphor and chips."

Included in the license is Intematix' White Lightning NY450(TM)/NY460 product line which has recently been expanded to include warm white spectral variants. Intematix has also added several alternative-color phosphor lines, all available for high volume use. All Intematix' product lines bring patent-backed phosphor options to designers and manufacturers of high brightness LED and solid state lighting solutions.

According to Wen Joe Song, Kingbright President and CEO, "Kingbright intends on using the Intematix' patent-backed phosphor in a wide range of our core and emerging applications areas to set a 'best-in-the-industry' standard for packaged LEDs. With these solutions, Kingbright is able to apply its performance-differentiated product strategy to capture a share of the solid-state lighting marketplace. Our focus on delivering a superior level of quality and value led us to the partnership with Intematix. We have integrated our own unique packaging technologies with CREE chips and Intematix phosphor to deliver the optimal performance, as well as the best value, into the competitive global marketplace."

The ability to flexibly customize its phosphor technology is achieved using Intematix' Materials Discovery Engines. As a unique rapid material development process, this technology enables the development of new material compositions that can be quickly customized for luminescent efficiency, emission wavelength, specified thermal stability, manufacturing processes, and specific Bills of Materials, including a choice of chips at various wavelengths and support for a variety of resins.

Concluded Dr. Li, "Using a UV- to 460nm- source, Intematix has enabled their customers to develop and manufacture white LEDs that are equivalent to YAG and superior to any TAG-enabled LEDs at those wavelengths. With our NY450 phosphor at 450 or 455nm, our customer's devices are actually outperforming YAG-enabled LEDs. We are pleased to be associated with manufacturers such as Kingbright who recognize that patent-backed merchant-supplier phosphor solutions are critical to the global expansion of the solid state lighting marketplace."
