Inaugural European Showcase Of ONESuit Shield Chemical-Protective Suit At A+A

A range of certified NFPA- and EN- chemical- protective clothing will be displayed by Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics in Hall 07, Booth E17
Rochdale, UK - Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics, the leading supplier of chemical-protective hazmat equipment for emergency response, chemical, military and industrial applications, has announced that it will display for the first time in Europe the ONESuitShield Level B hazmat suit at the A+A international trade show, Düsseldorf, 18-21 October 2011. This will be showcased alongside the gas-tight ONESuit Pro hazmat suit.
Ideal for law enforcement and fire and rescue organisations, ONESuit Shield features an open faced design and is made from a lightweight and extremely robust flexible fabric construction. It is also certified to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1994 Class 2 and NFPA 1992 standards and currently under evaluation for certification to the European EN standards. By adding ONESuit Shield to its portfolio of protective garments, Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics offers emergency responders a full portfolio of both Level A and Level B suits to ensure diverse protection against chemical and biological agents.
ONESuit Shield is engineered to meet the needs of hazmat professionals seeking the highest levels of protection combined with exceptional comfort and enhanced mobility for performing in hazardous and uncertain situations. The NFPA 1994 Class 2 certification resulted in a unique face mask interface which provides an air- tight configuration for maximum protection during CBRN or splash exposure. The suit can be used with other protective clothing solutions such as the ONEGlove Hazmat, a high-performance chemical-protective glove which protects the hands against extreme cuts and punctures while providing exceptional dexterity.
The ONESuit Pro products, including Industrial, Emergency Team (ET) and CBRN versions from Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics, will also be on display at the show. These suits offer maximum protection against the permeation of chemical and biological substances in both liquid and vapour form and provide superior flame and abrasion resistance by using the innovative Coretech barrier membrane technology. Developed through Saint-Gobain's expertise in fluoropolymer (PTFE) films, Coretech technology enables engineered fabrics designed through a combination of chemical protection and physical properties. The single-skin used for the ONESuit Pro enhances maneuverability and user comfort, while the bright orange color allows users in hazardous situations to easily be seen through increased visibility. ONESuit Pro is certified to EN943-2, NFPA1991 and NFPA 1994 Class 2 standards.
Both the ONESuit Shield and ONESuit Pro suits have a ten-year shelf life to improve longer-term cost efficiency and ensure maximum protection for fire, chemical, military and industrial organizations.
"Hazmat and emergency response teams are always paramount in ensuring safe interventions during hazardous situations – and prior planning and prevention is key," said Ian Hutcheson, Market Manager, Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics. "As the complexities of chemical threats and incidents continue to increase, the protective capabilities of PPE need to be constantly developed to align with the industries toughest requirements while ensuring maximum user comfort and mobility."
