Honeywell to deliver Uniformance Solutions that leverage Microsoft's Office XP product
Incorporated Office XP technologies provide a highly integrated, familiar, easy-to-use interface for the Uniformance platform, enabling end users to communicate and work with others in an efficient, seamless way. Office XP innovations that Honeywell will leverage include:
- Smart tags, which help users quickly access information in Uniformance and other databases with one simple entry from either an Excel or Word document. Resulting spreadsheets and documents can be saved for static Web display or can be used dynamically over the Web.
- Web Queries, which permit integration of data from the Internet into an Excel spreadsheet. This information can then be refreshed on a periodic basis and included in calculations within the spreadsheet.
- XML Support, which enables import/export of data and associated properties between the Excel Companion and new Uniformance Web-based applications.
- SharePoint Team Services, which integrate with Uniformance applications by providing a file and display management facility, collaboration platform, and automatic approval/notification workflow solution.
Virginia Burnell, Vice President and General Manager of Honeywell Hi-Spec Solutions, said, "The integration of Microsoft's Office XP technologies with our Uniformance system is an important milestone in our ongoing development of increasingly capable solutions that help customers meet their business objectives. This new capability will deliver significant added benefits to companies in the process industries."
Honeywell solutions with Office XP technologies will be an important business tool for Honeywell's customers and a valuable component of enterprise customers' knowledge management infrastructure. Companies can tap into Honeywell's proven experience and expertise with Microsoft technologies to provide superior solutions and support. In a continuing effort to help these companies make better business and operating decisions, Honeywell is targeting Microsoft enterprise customers interested in Intranet portal solutions, document collaboration solutions, or other collaborative applications. Honeywell's Uniformance solutions with Office XP will be available globally.
"We're pleased that Honeywell is using Office XP as a platform to build rich custom solutions that leverage the familiarity of the Office user interface," said Lisa Gurry, product manager for Office at Microsoft. "Because of Office XP's ease of use and intuitive nature, people can communicate and work with others in an efficient, seamless way without having to learn entirely new tools."
