Honeywell Launches Burdick & Jackson LabReady Solvent Blends

New patent-pending process delivers consistent, high quality blends for laboratory and production applications

Morris Township, NJ - Honeywell announced the launch of Burdick & Jackson ("B&J") LabReady Solvent Blends to help ensure solvent consistency and accuracy, while enhancing safety in both the blending process as well as the critical applications in which they are used. The new products are developed through a unique, patent-pending blend process that enables pharmaceutical customers to focus on their core business rather than blending and preparing solvent blends in-house.

Honeywell B&J developed LabReady Blends to meet the increased demand for a wide variety of ready-to-use products for laboratory applications. This new offering helps reduce concerns of contamination, solvent disposal, and exposure that might occur from blending solvents in the laboratory.

"We believe our unique blending process provides significant value to our customers," said Scott Gaddis, the global business manager for Honeywell's Research Chemicals business. "Honeywell discovered after talking with our customers that it was important for pharmaceutical companies to now have a reliable and precise alternative to mixing their own blends. It is crucial for them to count on precise laboratory processes and products due to the sophisticated nature of their work. Honeywell continues to seek ways to innovate and deliver exactly what our customers expect."

LabReady Solvent Blends are made in a flexible, closed loop system, which prevents impurities from contaminating the blends. The new products also have less batch-to-batch variation versus competitive or in-house blended products, which is especially important in a highly calibrated analytical lab environment. The system also allows for a cost-effective product in different package sizes.

Overall, customers experience numerous productivity and yield benefits from using the new products since they are made to be "lab ready." The new process also allows Honeywell to produce custom blends as requested by customers.

LabReady Solvent Blends will be available starting February 1, 2006. Standard blends available using the new process include TFA/formic acid blends with acetonitrile and/or water.
