Hercules Announces Executive Appointments
Hercules Inc. has named Reid J. Frazier senior vice president and general manager of its Resins division. Monika Riese-Martin, the former business director of Aqualon, has been named Aqualon's vice president and general manager. Frazier, formerly the senior vice president and general manager of Aqualon, succeeds R. Michael Alberts.
Frazier joined Hercules in 1980 and held positions in systems and business analysis. In 1983, he transferred to Tokyo as area controller, Hercules East, and concurrently served as general manager of Rika-Hercules Inc. during 1984. He moved to Hong Kong in 1985 as area controller of Hercules Asia Pacific. In 1988, he returned to Wilmington and held positions in business management.
Frazier was appointed vice president and general manager of the Packaging Films Group in 1992. He was vice president of Corporate Planning from 1994 to 1995. In 1995, he was appointed vice president and general manager of Aqualon and, in 1997, was named senior vice president and general manager of Aqualon. Frazier is an advisory member of the board of directors, a member of the Hercules Management Committee, and chair of the Hercules Ethics Committee. He received a bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Massachusetts in 1977 and an M.B.A. in General Management from Harvard Business School in 1980.
Riese-Martin held positions in marketing, product management and sales with Henkel Dusseldorf in Germany, transferring to Aqualon in 1987 after the joint venture between Hercules and Henkel was formed. In 1987, she was appointed marketing manager, Aqualon Dusseldorf, and in 1990 she was named director, Market Management, Aqualon East. In 1992, Riese-Martin became business director, Methylcellulose. In 1994, Monika was appointed vice president, Europe, Aqualon Division. In 1996, she transferred to corporate headquarters in Wilmington as business director, Aqualon. Riese-Martin received a diploma in Macroeconomics from the Technical University, Karlsruhe, Germany, in 1981.
Hercules manufactures chemical specialty products for a variety of markets worldwide. Its businesses include Aqualon water-soluble polymers, Paper Technology, Resins, Food Gums, and a majority interest in FiberVisions L.L.C., a joint venture in polypropylene fiber. With shareholder value as its guiding focus, the corporation concentrates on value-added, high-performance products where it has a market or technology advantage.
