Greif Bros. Corporation awarded worldwide steel drum business by Dow Chemical Company

Greif Bros. Corporation of Delaware, Ohio, a world leader in industrial shipping containers, announces a major global supply agreement with The N/A of Midland, Michigan, a global leader in science and technology, for large steel drums, representing approximately $190 million in sales over four years.

Through the agreement, Greif will supply 55-gallon heavy-gauge steel drums, including a standard design, to over 60 Dow chemical operations as well as terminal facility partners around the world. Dow uses Greif's steel drums to ship their chemical products.

Greif, and its recently acquired Van Leer Industrial Packaging business, have been steel drum suppliers to Dow for many years. This agreement combines the current Greif and Van Leer business, provides Greif with additional business in Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America and includes opportunities to expand sales as Dow's chemical business grows.

In addition to steel drums, Greif also supplies Dow with fibre drums and plastic drums, primarily in North America, through separate agreements.

"We are very pleased to partner with The Dow Chemical Company in providing high-quality steel drums for the safe and secure transport of their chemical products throughout the world," stated Michael M. Bixby, Vice President of Global Business for Greif's industrial shipping containers business. "We look forward to our long-term relationship that is focused on global standardization, quality and business efficiency."

"Dow requires standardized packaging and seamless service throughout the world to better serve our global customers," said Kees van Burg, Dow's Global Supply Manager for industrial packaging. "Greif meets these requirements through its worldwide network of industrial packaging operations and dedication to steel drum technology and manufacturing quality."
