GEO Buys Trimet Technical Division for $60 Million

GEO Specialty Chemicals, Inc. recently announced that it has purchased Mallinckrodt Inc.'s Trimet Technical Products Division (Allentown, PA), for $60 million.

Formed in 1993, GEO Specialty Chemicals, Inc. manages its products within the Process Additives and Performance Chemicals operating groups. Process Additives primarily consist of surfactant and dispersant chemicals-- chemical components that improve customers' product properties. It is a is a leading U.S. producer of naphthalene sulfonate condensates (NSC), used as dispersants in concrete admixture, gypsum board, ceramics, polymerization and oil field applications.

Trimet manufactures and markets functionally unique polyol additives for resins and coatings. These include DMPA(R) (dimethylolpropionic acid) and Trimethylolethane for water-borne polyurethane systems and high performance alkyd resins.
