The Lake Huron Water Treatment Plant is a major facility in the City of Detroit’s water distribution system under the management of the Water and Sewerage Department. The most recent addition to the distribution system, it began full-scale operations in 1974.

The Lake Huron Plant supplies water to communities north of Detroit and was designed to be expandable for growing populations. Currently, the plant has a pumping capacity of 400 million gallons per day.
