FMC Will Buy Perry Equipment's Flow Measurement Business
FMC Corp. (Chicago, IL) has reached a preliminary agreement to acquire the flow measurement business assets of Perry Equipment Corp. (PECO, Mineral Wells, TX) within 30 days. The companies did not release terms.

"The addition of PECO's orifice gas measurement product line enhances our growing participation in the gas measurement market," says Desmond McDonald, president of FMC Energy System's Smith Meter Inc. unit. "It complements our introduction of the Kongsberg ultrasonic gas meter and strengthens Smith's market leading measurement systems business." FMC, says McDonald, will retain "a number of key PECO employees."

PECO supplies orifice measurement products, originally called "Robinson" orifice fittings, as either single-chamber (Orificemaster) or dual-chamber (Measuremaster) configurations. Sizes range from 2- 42 in. and handle pressures up to 10,000 psi. PECO supplies them as individual products, fabricated meter runs, or as integral meters within a gas or liquid metering system.

A $60 million company, PECO produces a broad range of refinery and petrochemical components. These include separators, scrubbers, dry gas and liquid filters, carbon adsorbers, liquid phase separators/coalescers, quick opening closures (QOCs), launchers/receivers, and fuel gas systems.

FMC's Smith Meter unit is a global supplier of liquid petroleum measurement products and systems. In addition to hydraulic diaphragm-actuated globe and wafer sphere valves, the company offers a broad product line of microprocessor-controlled metering systems.
