Emerson's New Intrinzx Photometric Technology Among Enhancements To Process Gas Analyzers

Solon, OH - Emerson Process Management has unveiled its new IntrinzX intrinsically linear photometric technology in the company's latest release of X-STREAM Process Gas Analyzers. The photometric technology provides high-sensitivity, large dynamic ranges, and long-term span stability.

The enhanced X-STREAM analyzers combine the environmentally hardened packaging and ease of use, installation and maintenance of the previous version, with the added capability for up to four measurements in a single enclosure along with the benefits of the new IntrinzX technology.

"The new process gas analyzers will offer customers heightened performance and functionality," said Mike Fersky, process analyzers marketing manager for the Rosemount Analytical division of Emerson Process Management. "The large dynamic ranges minimize the number of measurement channels required and the long-term span stability will enable extended calibration intervals to save maintenance time and expensive calibration gases."

The patent-pending IntrinzX technology uses split cell dual beam photometry and constant comparison of the reference signal and measurement signal to achieve an intrinsically linear response to changes in concentration. This enables sensitivity as low as 0 - 10 ppm, span drift less than 0.5% per week, and dynamic ranges as large as 0 -200 to 50,000 ppm.

"X-STREAM analyzers feature extended ambient temperature ranges for all world areas and an alphanumeric display with clear text messages available in multiple languages," said Bernd Thalmann, European process analyzers marketing manager for Emerson. "This enhanced product line is engineered to provide optimal performance in demanding applications, with minimal installation and maintenance costs."

X-STREAM analyzers utilize Rosemount Analytical infrared, ultraviolet and visible (NDIR/UV/UVS) photometry, paramagnetic and electrochemical oxygen, and thermal conductivity sensor technologies. The analyzers are field proven to help users fine-tune their processes for increased productivity and profitability.

The new X-STREAM analyzers are now available in four configurations:

  • Compact general purpose X-STREAM - half 19-inch rack mountable or tabletop version
  • General purpose X-STREAM - 19-inch rack mountable or tabletop version
  • Field housing X-STREAM - NEMA 4X / IP66 version that can be purged/pressurized or non-incendive for installation in hazardous areas
  • Flameproof X-STREAM - flameproof version that can be installed in Class I, Zone 1, Group IIB + H2 hazardous areas

Industries that can benefit from X-STREAM analyzers include refining, petrochemical and chemical processing, metallurgical production, hardening and heat treatment, natural gas production and distribution, safety measurement for flammable mixtures, biotechnology, landfill applications, and flue gas analysis of boilers, power plants, process furnaces and incinerators.
