EMCOR Group, Inc. Subsidiary, Ohmstede Ltd., Builds The Largest Heat Exchanger In Its History For ExxonMobil
Norwalk, CN - EMCOR Group, Inc., a Fortune 500 leader in mechanical and electrical construction, energy infrastructure and facilities services for a diverse range of businesses globally, announced that its Ohmstede Ltd. subsidiary has completed the fabrication of the largest heat exchanger in its history, and one of the largest in the industry, for ExxonMobil Chemical in Baytown, Texas.
Ohmstede engineered, designed, procured materials, and built the 167.5-ton propylene refrigerant desuperheater/condenser exchanger in its Sulphur, Louisiana plant with its Beaumont, Texas facility being utilized for the drilling of the tube sheets and baffles. Due to its weight and the challenge it posed to land bridges, the exchanger was shipped by rail to ExxonMobil's location.
"This was an exceedingly large and complicated job – the biggest heat exchanger in our history - and we are proud to have completed it for one of the petrochemical industry's market leaders," said William P. Reid, CEO of Ohmstede. "It is yet another example of the highly engineered, time- and mission-critical projects at which we excel on a regular basis."
