Eastman Selects Anaqua's IP Management Solution

Boston, TX - Anaqua, a leading provider of intellectual asset management (IAM) software and services to global companies, and Eastman Chemical Company, a leading manufacturer of chemicals, fibers and plastics, have entered into a multi-year agreement to use Anaqua's IP management software. Under the agreement, Eastman will license the ANAQUA IAM solution to manage inventions, patents and portfolio planning.

Eastman is a leader in the global chemical industry. The company provides key coatings, adhesives and specialty plastics products; produces PET polymers for packaging; and is a major supplier of cellulose acetate fibers. With sales for 2007 at $6.8B, Eastman has approximately 11,000 employees worldwide.

According to Bernie Graves, Eastman's Chief Patent Counsel, "It was time for a change so we looked at the alternatives and selected Anaqua for both our legal IP team's needs and to support the portfolio management requirements of our colleagues in the business and technology groups. By integrating patent and portfolio management data in Anaqua, the businesses are much better served with increased visibility of real-time portfolio information, efficiencies in portfolio reviews, and more accurate forecasting capability."

A growing number of leading manufacturing companies have selected the Anaqua IAM system, including Ford Motor and NXP Semiconductors. "I am very pleased to welcome Eastman into our expanding community of IP leaders," said Paul DiGiammarino, CEO of Anaqua. "There is a growing recognition of the need for integrated IP management across legal, business and R&D functions in a company; that this is the way to truly leverage intellectual assets and to build and protect company value."
