EA Systems Inc. Acquired by AEA Technology plc
The Pasce (pronounced "pace") software applications package consists of an integrated database for two-dimensional intelligent schematics (PlantSchema) and three-dimensional physical modeling (PlantView) for data consistency and single time data entry.
The acquisition of EA Systems by AEA Technology will increase the company's ability to provide data management solutions for the full life cycle of complex industrial plants. The firm's Technology Engineering Software division already includes Hyprotech Ltd., a leading supplier of integrated simulation software for the process industries.
In order to optimize workflow and enable collaborative engineering in complex process plant design, EA Systems announced that a link has been developed between the PASCE software suite and Hyprotech's HYSYS software for process simulation. As separate business entities operating within AEA Technology Engineering Software, the two companies will continue to work together to develop and market integrated solutions.
Andrew Selden, chairman and CEO of EA Systems explains that the software links will allow the company to realize "the goal of providing a single database for all plant information, spanning the complete lifecycle from initial business case development to ultimate decommissioning."
AEA Technology plc employs some 4500 staff in 26 locations worldwide and reported fiscal 1998 revenues of more than $450 million. AEA Technology Engineering Software was established in April 1998 and is now one of the largest suppliers of engineering software for the process and mechanical manufacturing industries.
