Chiyoda Awarded A Joint EPC Contract From Idemitsu Kosan Co., Ltd. For A Large-Scale Lithium Sulfide Production Facility For The Mass Production Of All-Solid-State Battery Materials
Chiyoda Corporation (Chiyoda) is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a joint Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract with KOBELCO E&M Co., Ltd. (KOBELCO E&M), from Idemitsu Kosan Co., Ltd. (Idemitsu), for a large-scale lithium sulfide* manufacturing facility at their Chiba Plant.
The project has been certified by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry as a ‘supply security plan for storage batteries’ and, through the construction of a large-scale lithium sulfide production facility, Idemitsu aims to build a value chain for the mass production of solid electrolytes and contribute to the social implementation of all-solid-state batteries. Chiyoda, as project leader, has formed a joint venture with KOBELCO E&M to execute the EPC project for Idemitsu, which is aimed for completion in June 2027.
As a comprehensive engineering company, Chiyoda continues to contribute to carbon neutrality and the development of a sustainable society through the completion of such projects, in line with our purpose of ‘Enriching Society through Engineering Value’.
