Chemical Manufacturer Selects PlanetTogether Advanced Planning And Scheduling Solution

San Diego, CA - PlanetTogether, LLC recently announced that the large chemical manufacturing firm of KMG Chemicals, Inc. (www.kmgchemicals.com) has selected its advanced planning and scheduling solution (APS), PlanetTogether, to help it manage complex production scheduling tasks unique to the chemical industry. KMG Chemicals, Inc. is a publicly held chemical company involved in the manufacture, formulation, and distribution of specialty chemicals and is headquartered in Houston, Texas.

KMG Chemicals recently acquired an electronic chemical division from another company and sought to standardize the division's software with the solution the rest of KMG Chemicals relies on--Microsoft Dynamics GP. Along with standardizing the division's software, this new electronic chemical division also needed a manufacturing planning and scheduling solution.

Interdyn Progressive Group, a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner also based in Houston, is KMG Chemicals business software solution provider and was asked to spearhead the transition. One of Interdyn's first tasks was to match the functionality the division had regarding its production scheduling.

"PlanetTogether is an APS solution that integrates with Horizons International Manufacturing Suite, the sophisticated process manufacturing solution for Microsoft Dynamics GP that KMG was already using," said Gary Legendre, a project manager for Interdyn Progressive Group. "Process manufacturers like KMG Chemicals face unique challenges in the management of production processes. We investigated and found that PlanetTogether closely paralleled the functionality of their SAP system and would address the company's requirements."

KMG Chemicals is currently running in a test-mode with plans to take the new ERP and ASP systems live in October, 2008. Legendre said that the feedback thus far has been overwhelmingly positive. "The users tell us they are most excited about the PlanetTogether portion of the solution. The visual scheduling board with drag-n-drop functionality is intuitive and informative."

KMG Chemicals expects to significantly reduce its total cost of ownership by transitioning to Microsoft Dynamics GP, Horizons International, and PlanetTogether.
