Celanese Chemicals Announces Temporary Freight Surcharge On Polyvinyl Alcohol

Dallas - Celanese Chemicals announced today that it will temporarily increase its freight surcharge on all Polyvinyl Alcohol orders globally, effective October 1, 2005. The increase is necessitated by significantly higher freight supplier costs and logistical problems caused by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

The freight surcharge will be increased in North America by $400 per rail shipment, $150 for full truckload shipments and $70 for less-than-truckload shipments. All international shipments will be increased by $400 per container.

Celanese stresses that this is a temporary increase to its freight surcharge and will be repealed as soon as its logistics costs return to normal historic levels.
