Calgene Chemical to Become Part of Petroferm's Lambent Technologies Subsidiary

Petroferm Inc. has acquired Calgene Chemical, Inc., a subsidiary of Calgene LLC (a Monsanto company). The acquisition is the second for Petroferm within the past eight months, and the fifth in the past four years.

According to a statement from Petroferm, Calgene Chemical has been renamed Lambent Technologies Corp. and will continue all of its present operations in Skokie, Ill. Edward Trauth will continue as vice president and general manager. He will report to Tony O'Lenick, president of Petroferm's specialty chemicals subsidiary, Lambent Technologies Inc. All of the Calgene Chemical staff will remain with the company.

Geoffrey Cross, president and chief operating officer of Petroferm, said that the company plans to expand the product range of the former Calgene Chemical using proprietary technology available in Lambent Technologies Inc.

Petroferm, based in Fernandina Beach, Fla., develops and markets environmentally responsible products and technologies for cleaning applications in the electronics, precision parts manufacturing and asphalt industries; petroleum-related products and technologies for oil field and industrial fuels applications; and, through its Lambent Technologies subsidiaries, specialty chemicals for personal care, food, textiles and other industries.
