Bay City Plant Utilizing LiMA Technology Reaches 75% Production Capacity

In March 2025, Röhm successfully commissioned its state-of-the-art plant in Bay City (Texas, USA) featuring the company’s proprietary LiMA (“Leading in Methacrylates”) C2 technology for the production of methyl methacrylate (MMA). Over the past months, the plant has been gradually ramped up and is currently operating multiple reactors at nameplate capacity.

Röhm is now operating ¾ quarters of the planned production volume in Bay City and is thereby able to ensure a reliable MMA supply for the U.S. market. In this context, Röhm has strategically expanded its logistics infrastructure: Barge, rail and truck shipments in an optimized supply chain network provide Röhm customers with LiMA MMA across the U.S. market.

Röhm is the only producer in the U.S. that manufactures MMA based on C2 technology. In the first quarter of 2026, the plant will reach full production capacity and will be able to supply not only the U.S. but also international markets.

In its current implementation, the LiMA technology has already surpassed efficiency targets and is positioned to exceed nameplate capacity in the future. Going forward, Röhm plans to unlock additional yield and thereby meet the growing global demand for LiMA products and drive sustainable growth and innovation.
