BASF's new Uvinul MC 80 plant triples capacity
With worldwide approval, Uvinul MC 80 is widely used in both sunscreens and daily skin care products for the highly effective protection it offers from the sun's ultra violet rays. Part of BASF's extensive range of UVB and UVA absorbers, Uvinul MC 80 and related products allow the cosmetic industry to formulate sun screen creams which give optimum sun protection at various Sun Protection Factors (SPF).
Dr. Thomas Saupe, Director of Strategic Marketing Cosmetic Ingredients said, "BASF recognized the market's demand for increased production of reliable sunscreen ingredients in easy-to-use formulations, and the need to bring new capacity on-stream rapidly. BASF has achieved those goals. I believe this clearly shows BASF's commitment to customers and demonstrates our ability to respond rapidly to the market's needs."
Uvinul MC 80 (ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate) is manufactured by a BASF patented process that delivers both outstanding product quality and purity. This innovative process also fits perfectly into BASF unique "Verbund"-structure of the Ludwigshafen production site, the Germany based headquarter of BASF Group.
