Ashland Specialty Chemical Closes Composite Polymers Plant
Plans to serve the plant's customers are in place, and no interruptions in supply are expected. Ashland plans to decommission the Ashtabula plant, which employed 32, by the end of the year and make the property available for other uses.
"The small size of the Ashtabula facility, the substantial investment needed to make ongoing use of its capabilities, and the proximity of other Ashland polyester resin plants ruled out continuing operations there," said Mark E. Santangelo, CPD's manufacturing manager.
Manufacturing capacity gained through plant optimization, efficiency improvements and capital investments is expected to be more than adequate to meet current and future customer needs. The division's other North American manufacturing facilities are located in Neville Island, PA; Philadelphia; Los Angeles; Jacksonville, AR; Bartow, FL; Kelowna, British Columbia; and Mississauga, Ontario.
