Armored Variable Area Flowmeter

The company offers the new design of series AM54, Armored Variable Area Flowmeter.
The company offers the new design of series AM54, Armored Variable Area Flowmeter. The new modular designed round converter housing is pressure tight and meets the requirements of the IP 67 standard.

Variable Area Flowmeters (VAF) with metal meter tubes are proven instruments to measure liquids, gases and steam. Robust, safe and application oriented designs secure a wide range of many application possibilities. The use of armored all metal flowmeters is almost imperative for aggressive, cloudy and opaque fluids because of their high pressure and temperature capabilities.

The new indicator with its plug-in modular design can be upgraded at any time - without process interruptions - to incorporate additional functions like:

  • AM54_71 Local indicator
  • AM54_72 Indicator with alarm signals, min.-alarm
  • AM54_73 Indicator with alarm signals, max.-alarm
  • AM54-74 Indicator with alarm signals, min. & max.-alarm
  • AM54_31 Indicator with electronic converter, output 4-20 mA, without display
  • AM54_32 Indicator with electronic converter, output 4-20 mA, flow totalizer, with display

The converter is a 2-wire design. Only a single 2-conductor cable is required for power supply and 4-20 mA current output. Additional terminals for scaled pulse output, passive, (optocoupler configured as a NAMUR-contact) as well as a contact output, passive are available.

The converter is available with Ex-Approvals:

  • Intrinsically safe supply
  • Non-intrinsically safe supply
  • FM/CSA Div 1 Class I
  • II 2G EEx ib IIC T4
  • II 2G EEx d IIC T6

In combination with a 55TS1000 Transmitter Power Supply the current, pulse and alarm signals can be transmitted simultaneously.

The advantage of this new design is the reduction in inventory, as this instrument can be used universally in "EEx d" or "EEx ib" applications by easy user-friendly and local modification.

The microprocessor controlled converter assures a high performance for operator ease. The user is guided in a clear text dialog in the alphanumeric display. Parameters are entered using either the keypad on the converter or using a magnet stick without opening the housing.

The HART-Protocol allows additional communication over the existing 2-wire interconnection cable. A handheld terminal or modem/PC can be used to access or change the parameters.

The Multifunction-Float, a basic body whose geometry can be altered by adding various building blocks. Additional supplementary weights can be optimally combined for high accuracy in all application.
