Amine systems are used to treat acid gases in a number of industries including refineries and gas processing plants. A typical amine system consists of absorption column where the sour gas or liquid is contacted with a lean amine.
The rich amine leaving the absorber is heated in a lean/rich heat exchanger
prior to entering the desorption (or regeneration, or stripper) column. The acid
gas that is stripped leaves from the top of the column, and the hot and lean
amine is sent back to the absorber through the lean/rich exchangers.
