Air Management System

Source: Smoot Company
The air management system uses a pressure control regulator, airflow control orifice, and bypass valve to automatically control total airflow to the conveying system.
Smoot Companyagement system uses a pressure control regulator, airflow control orifice, and bypass valve to automatically control total airflow to the conveying system. The bypass valve also controls material-to-air ratios.
By controlling the system airflow and material-to-air ratio at the transporter, boosters aren't required. The added air from boosters increases conveying velocity, which can degrade the material and increase wear in the line.
The valve controls the material-to-air ratio by sensing pressure in the transporter. To prevent plugging, a constant air and material flow is maintained in the conveying line, and constant pressure is maintained in the transporter. When the pressure reaches a preset point, the bypass valve opens so air from the transporter's top bypasses material and flows directly into the conveying line. Because the bypass valve rotates between opened and closed, the rate at which material enters the conveying line is controlled so the line doesn't plug.
