Air Liquide America to supply hydrogen to Geismar industrial basin

Air Liquide America Corporation announced plans to build a new hydrogen facility in Geismar, La. to supply BASF, a key global customer of Air Liquide. Air Liquide America will purify raw hydrogen gas from Vulcan Chemicals and transport it via pipeline to BASF. The facility will also supply Vulcan Chemicals' high purity hydrogen requirements.

This plant is further representation of Air Liquide America's commitment to the Louisiana chemical and oil and gas market. Earlier this year, the company started up a major air gases and cogeneration complex in Geismar, representing Air Liquide's largest single industrial investment in North America to date. The company also recently opened a customer center in Baton Rouge to accommodate clients in Louisiana and much of the Gulf Coast region.

Air Liquide America expects this plant to pave the way for other industrial gases plants in the future to service chemical and oil and gas customers along its Mississippi River pipeline system.
