ANSYS CFX (formerly AEA Technology Engineering Software) Provides Cost-Effective and Time-Saving Tool for Designers

Pittsburgh, PA - September 24, 1999 - <%=company%> Engineering Software, a leading supplier of engineering solutions for the manufacturing industries, today announced the release of CFX-VoluteGen, the latest in an integrated software suite for rotating machinery design.

CFX-VoluteGen provides designers of volutes and scrolls with a tool to interactively develop these components in a parametric environment with visualization in 3D. Configurations are easily selected and parameterized by the designer to meet individual requirements. CFX-VoluteGen provides an assortment of pre-configured cross-sections. It assists the designer by specifying the dimensions, number of sections, number of discharges and sizing method, then assembles the cross-sections into a complete volute geometry in less than a minute. From concept to final geometry, this integrated suite of products will save most designers several weeks.

In conjunction with CFX's integrated suite of computational fluid dynamics software for rotating machinery design and analysis, CFX-VoluteGen can be used to iteratively optimize design. This suite includes CFX-BladeGen for design of bladed rows, CFX-TurboGrid for mesh generation, and CFX-TASCflow and CFX-5 for CFD analysis. By using CFX computational fluid dynamics technology, the scroll or volute geometry can be analyzed and then modified to provide the best possible product. From concept to final geometry, this integrated suite of products will save most designers several weeks. CFX-VoluteGen will export to standard CAD formats for further design or production.

"CFX-VoluteGen provides a pivotal element in design and analysis of the entire primary flow path," said Edward Bennett, Technical Specialist, Rotating Machinery and Mechanical Systems for AEA Technology Engineering Software. "All components can now be quickly optimized, saving time and providing superior design."

CFX-VoluteGen is available on Windows 95 and Windows NT starting at $10,000 US for an annual license.
