Advanced Reactive System Screening Tool (ARSST)

The new Advanced Reactive System Screening Tool (ARSST) is a reliable and cost effective calorimeter that can quickly and safely identify potential chemical hazards in the process industry. The ARSST approaches the ease of use of a DSC and the accuracy of the VSP2, i.e., data are readily obtained which can be directly applied to full scale process conditions. The ARSST retains all the capabilities of the acclaimed Reactive System Screening Tool (RSST), and it even uses much of the same hardware. For example, the 10 ml glass test cell (phi factor ~ 1.04) and the 350 cc high pressure containment vessel remain unchanged. The same consumables (test cell, insulation, heaters, etc.) can therefore be used with either apparatus. The control box and A/D card are new, as is the ARSST software.
