3dMPC is a Multivariable Predictive Controller (MPC) software suite to give consistently optimum conditions throughout a production line. It operates through existing instrumentation and control equipment.

The controller includes on-line components for control and operator interaction as well as off-line components for controller specification, modeling, tuning and analysis.

Based on leading-edge MPC technology, the controller features a number of new developments:

  • 3-Degrees of Freedom Design. The setpoints, feedback and feedforward parts of the controller can all be designed independently. This gives great design flexibility and robust process handling from more accurate controller commands.
  • Performance Variable Methodology. This enables the controller to sense changes in process conditions that cannot be measured directly, such as multivariable "softsensor" technology, and to initiate countermeasures long before normal MPC technology can detect the variations.
  • On-Demand Adaptation. This permits automatic adaptation of the controller to suit changed process conditions, while still maintaining overall control of the production.

By providing constant prediction of process conditions and making appropriate corrections, the 3dMPC controller helps to improve product quality, reduce the consumption of raw materials and energy and increase production.
