Hydraulic Institute Honors Graeme Addie As 2004 Member Of The Year
"Graeme Addie was recognized not only for his efforts in professional and technical development at HI, but also for his proactive devotion to advancing the international slurry community, and the pump industry worldwide." said Robert Asdal, executive director of HI.
In particular, Asdal pointed to Addie's leadership of HI's Slurry Pump Committee for the last five years. His dedication and wealth of experience has guided the committee's production of "Centrifugal Slurry Pumps for Nomenclature: Definitions, Applications and Operation," a landmark publication that will serve as the first ever national slurry pump standard. The Institute anticipates finalizing this document later this year.
In addition to this work, Addie serves as a member on the Centrifugal Pump Committee, Technical Affairs Steering Committee, CPS/VPS Test Standard Committee and Standards Committee. He has served as the executive voting representative and standards voting representative for GIW Industries, Inc. He has addressed thousands of pump users worldwide, and has authored/coauthored over 80 publications on Slurry Pipeline Transport, Pump Design, Performance and Wear, including coauthoring the book "Slurry Transport Using Centrifugal Pumps." In addition, he holds six patents.
Addie began his career in the pump industry at Thompsons, Kelly and Lewis, a leading Australian manufacturer of centrifugal pumps, before moving to GIW Industries, Inc. in 1976. He is a graduate of the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. The 88-year old Hydraulic Institute, the largest association of pump producers in North America, serves member companies and pump users by providing product standards and forums for the exchange of industry information.
